How do we fight attitudes that take away happiness?
Proverbs 23:19 NLT
My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course.
Sometimes we have to fight to keep our hearts on the right track. We have to fight the flood of wrong voices that will try to invade our hearts and minds, and listen to God’s voice to help keep us on track. What are some of the wrong attitudes we face during this season?
WRONG ATTITUDES TO FIGHT
・Blame
・Rumors
・Fear
Be clear in your theology: sicknesses is from the devil not from God. Jesus smashes blame and rumor.
John 9:1-3 NLT
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
Don’t be hasty to make a ruling about where a problem comes from. The main point is that God can help and heal. Jesus resets our thinking!
Luke 13:1-5 NLT
About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.
Stop thinking some people are worse than others. That some how some people deserved it. Our focus should be on the condition of our own soul.
RIGHT ATTITUDES
How do we have attitudes that make us happy? – Pray first!
While we’re isolated at home let’s go to prayer. This doesn’t mean we are bulletproof. But prayer brings God’s perspective into our situation.Read and speak God’s Word. Speak out of overflow and hunger for what God has for us. Words don’t only impact us, but they impact those we are connected to. If we are willing to share God’s words of hope with others, we can bring some of that hope into their lives.
Praise – Lift Up Your Head
Luke 21:28 NLT
So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!
