Ask and Keep on Asking

Ask and Keep on Asking

“‭‭What we should do now: ask.
What we will do in the future: receive.”
‬‬

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:7-8‬ ‭AMP‬‬
“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.”

Jesus’ commands:

  • Ask
  • Seek
  • Wrap on that door

These are all in the present tense.

What this scripture makes clear is that we don’t lack faith if we keep asking.
What we should do now: ask.
What we will do in the future: receive.

The other thing we can learn from this scripture is that there might be a delay. Therefore there’s a need to keep on knocking and to keep on asking. Unfortunately, sometimes we are tempted to give up instead of persevering in our knocking and asking. That’s why it is so important that we surround ourselves with good people who will keep encouraging and praying.

Another interesting point about this scripture is that the word “Door” is not in the original Greek. The picture or concept is more of a knocking on an opportunity. Knowing this in terms of leadership is important because it can help us set a dynamic or a movement of prayer.

At Connect Group, let’s look at who we can connect with. There are people who are seeking or knocking on God’s door. We can use social media to connect with people who we may have lost touch with, or new people we have recently met.

Here is another example of a persistent door knocker:

‭‭‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:12-16‬ ‭TPT
When he realized this, he decided to go to the home of Mary and her son John Mark. The house was filled with people praying. When he knocked on the door to the courtyard, a young servant girl named Rose got up to see who it was. When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so excited that she forgot to open the door, but ran back inside the house to announce, “Peter is standing outside!” “Are you crazy?” they said to her. But when she kept insisting, they answered, “Well, it must be his angel.” Meanwhile, Peter was still outside, knocking on the door. When they finally opened it, they were shocked to find Peter standing there.

This can be a picture of Connect Groups.
