We all want to be fruitful.
But sometimes we don’t see the the fruit we are believing for.
Of course there are many things that can stop us from being fruitful, but I want to talk about one reason today – losing confidence in our calling.
Let’s have a look at this powerful scripture on calling.
John 15:14-17 (NIV)
You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
The key to get out of these verses is that God chose us and appointed us for the purpose of bearing eternal fruit. There are always going to be tough times in life and ministry, and at those times more than ever, we must have confidence that God has called us and placed us where we are.
God hasn’t called and appointed us to fail but to be fruitful.
It is Gods plan and desire for us to produce fruit, fruit that will last.
I believe this starts with us having faith and confidence that God has called us and placed us to do what we are doing now, for him and his Kingdom.
This means as long as we are living out of this calling, we can live in confidence and boldness knowing that we will produce lasting fruit.
Before I send out a pastor to lead a church plant I always ask them, has God called YOU?
If they don’t have confidence that God has called them to that city and region it won’t work.
Sometimes we need to go back to the original word from God, what did he say to us?
What verses did he speak over our lives?
What did God call us to do?
What city did God call us to reach?
We need to keep living out of our calling and in God’s grace for us.
When we forget the call we begin to strive in our own strength, and we stop producing lasting fruit.
So ask yourself these questions, get back to your calling from God, and live confidently in that calling!
