When I was a young Christian, I received this life changing revelation from Psalm 100. It talks about how we can confidently walk into new circumstance in our lives.
Psalm 100:1-4 NIV
[1] Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. [2] Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. [3] Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. [4] Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
God taught me the importance and value of entering each new gate or situation with praise in my heart.
Every day we go through different “gates.”
This may be a literal door, like walking into our office or home. Or maybe for you a gate represents a new season in your life.
Before I was a pastor, I was a salesman.
I traveled to different clinics and hospitals and sold pharmaceutical products to doctors.
Every time I entered the doors of the hospital I would praise God, thanking him for being with me, and pray for succes.
Also as a newly married man, I learned the importance of coming home to my wife with thanksgiving in my heart.
I learned that I can’t give my best to everyone else and then come home to my wife, who is the most important person in my life, and give her the leftovers.
Your wife, your family deserve the best you have!
My days got a lot more enjoyable and fruitful when I built this revelation into my daily life.
Here are some thoughts that I pray can help you too.
Make the Place Where You Are Blessed and Peaceful
Luke 10:5-6 NIV
[5] “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ [6] If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.
Take God’s blessing and peace wherever you go.
When your heart’s tank is filled with praise, it’s much easier to pour out blessing.
Make The Place Special
Exodus 3:5 NIV
[5] “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
I have learned that wherever I go, God is right there with me, that place can become a special or “holy” place.
That means that you can encounter God anywhere and anytime.
Make the Place a Place of Worship
Acts 16:25-26 NIV
[25] About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. [26] Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
No matter what situation you find yourself in, we always have something to worship and thank God for.
My question to you today is, how do you walk into your office, school, home or through a new “gate”?
Are you bring the past or bad experiences in with you?
Or are you bringing the unshakable expectation that God is about to bless this new situation?
