10 years of struggle and blessing
On the 8th April 2002, we arrived in Japan with a team of 16. This included Viv, my two boys (then aged 9 and 4), Junya and Kimie and 10 young Australians committed to giving a year of service, and me. We arrived without finance and without much of anything. We just had a simple vision from God that He was going to move in Japan.
And every year the young Australians rotated in and out. In all about 100 young Australians gave a year of service to Japan in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Sapporo and Sendai. Wow – what a blessing they have been. Always giving, sharing, laughing, praying, loving the young Japanese with God’s love. We honestly could not have done without them. It was a strategy that has worked amazingly well. A huge ‘thank you’ to all the Aussies (and those from a few other nations) who came and served
on team in Japan!!!
And now 10 years later we have seen the blessing of God in so many ways. Churches flourishing, 1,000’s touched by God, lives changed forever! I thank God for this amazing life he has given me too. My marriage is the best ever! My boys are growing up to love Japan and love God. My church family and friends are amazing.
10 years … and the best is yet to come!

I have been so blessed by all the people who are involved in JLH. I feel so loved by all, and thanks to this church, am living a fruitful happy life for the first time. I thank God so much that you came with a team to Japan, and He could save me through you.
I’m glad it’s my turn to give back, and help Sendai to come to know God.
Great story. Well told.
